Make sure you bring your ski pass holders. Pippu still uses tickets. Judging from the big sign at the post office, they must sell a whole lot of them. Ended up with 4 of these "souvenirs".
Only a small selection of rental gear available at the Yukibanya lodge. We left our bag of gloves and goggles back at the hotel. Lucky they were able to sort us out.

First time on the Deep Powder run. It funnels down the bottom into a flat before the turn off. Make sure not to slow down here. The powder is so deep that you just sink in.
You can buy Hokkaido gibier products by Pipiyuk from the shop in the Hokurei Lodge. There are deer sausages and jerky and treats for your dog. They also have keychains made with the hunters bullets.
Pippu’s ezo deer curry. Wasn’t spicy more like a stew. It was delicious. You can only get this at the Yukibanya.
The Kamui X Magic Board exhibition featuring hand crafted snowboards by Mosirita based on 2 of Kamui’s loved powder runs.
My kids love the unlimited free after onsen icy poles and ice creams you get at Dormys. Their Hershey ones were 👍👍!
One of the staples at breakfast is the kaisendon seafood bowls. Top your rice with tuna, salmon and roe, okra and a splash of premium shoyu sauce. The topping that looks like worms with eyes is Shirasu - baby sardines which are really delicious on rice.
New favourite quick lunch. The Kare Pan or curry doughnut at Links Cafe was good. Just enough spice to provide a little heat.
Dormy's signature Kobachi Yokocho or small bowl street. They lay out rows of bowls at breakfast with a variety of cold and hot appetisers like tofu, root vegetables, squid guts and onsen egg.
The free Midnight ramen offered by Dormy Inn Asahikawa. Nice plain shoyu ramen to slurp up before bed. Kids love this.
There is no dry room or ski storage room at Dormy, but they have a trolley where you can keep your skis and snowboards stored overnight.
The spicy miso ramen from Cafe Owl was really tasty. There was kelp in the soup which gave it a distinct taste. Warms you up. Very busy but a nice guy was there to help foreigners with the ordering and seat reservations.
SKS Cafe have Japanese Whiskeys and local craft beers. There is a Whiskey sampler with 3 flights that should warm you up.
Anyone missing Aussie tucker can get a meat pie at SKS cafe.
