A selection of the street food I had when the fam was shopping on Sakaemachi dori. Wagyu beef croquette and Otaru beer, Zangi fried chicken and Nama cheese danish and coffee from DANI a LeTao cafe.
This standing bar is just off Heiwa dori shopping street in Asahikawa. They have a wide selection of Japanese craft beers. You can choose from the menu over the bar and get a tasting paddle to try. The bartender is very helpful with recommendations. Also ordered a serve of monkfish liver pate and keema curry which were tasty and salty complimenting the cold beers perfectly. They were playing an 80s mix when we arrived which always means a fun time.
The resort shuttle bus to Kiroro stops just opposite our hotel. Quite convenient.
Delectable chocolate soft serve called a Tomi Silk Ice - the perfect apres-ski dessert at Kamui.
Delectable grilled pork meal in Asahikawa (ginneko) Came with OG tare (sauce)
This Genghis Khan BBQ restaurant in Asahikawa was so popular they had a waiting room for customers in the building opposite so you didn’t have to stand out in frigid conditions. The BBQ was delicious with thick slices of lamb and the house tare sauce was smoky and tasty.
This was my usual breakfast. Bowl of Tuna donburi, Salmon Waffle, scrambled eggs and sausages with corn soup. Delicious.. Although.. I wouldn't mind if they switched it up every few days.
Enjoyed this famous Asahikawa ramen which is served with curly noodles and has the right balance between pork soup and shoyu. Service is quick and efficient. You can also order miso ramen if you wish, or ramen with extra vegetables.
One of the premium breakfast offerings at OMO7. These guys were making Maguro Zuke. Bowls of delicious marinated tuna sashimi on rice with freshly grated wasabi.
We ordered the recommended set at Daikokuya which came with 3 cuts of lamb - shoulder, fillet and shoulder loin, onions and vegetables. Their famous house made sauce is a must and perfectly compliments the juiciness of the lamb. The Mega Joki mugs of beer and highballs are awesome. Great atmosphere. Be prepared to smell like smoke and fat. I wouldnt wear my ski jacket in here as there is no way you are leaving without smelling like grilled lamb.
Through one of the BC gates. No one around. It was so peaceful and the view was spectacular. Had to stop to take it all in.
If you wanted your skis or boards waxed you can drop it off at White Time who can do it overnight. They also do rentals. Wouldn't mind trying out one of those Japanese boards next time.
The White Time shop had a very nice looking range of Vector Glide skis and snowboard. They also stocked outerwear by BLANKS and some boutique labels I haven't seen before.
Had the King of Kamui today. An upsized curry rice with chicken katsu, potato croquette, chicken karaage, beef curry and topped with a fried egg. Ok it was a bit much for me and we had to share it. Maybe if I hadn't stuffed myself during the breakfast buffet.
They have 2 ski board tuning stations with all the tools, waxing iron and a wax bar with different types of wax for various temps. Can be a bit of a line at night when people are getting their sticks waxed up for a powder day.
OMO 7’s ski / board storage room is a nice feature. Located just outside the main entrance, so you don't have to bring your gear up to your room.
