Lovely soba restaurant close to the Togakuchi shrine. Stumbled across this gem during a snowfall and the delicious soba was very welcome!
Discovered this place when we had some time to kill at Nagano station. It's a little standing bar in the basement which serves local beer, wine and sake. Not really knowing what to order. i went for the tasting menu with a selection of 3 types of sake to try. They also provide accompanying snacks to go with the sake and a little score sheet for you to take down notes. Nice experience even though it was slightly weird getting sloshed in the middle of a sho. pping centre.
Very cozy izakaya down in the basement on the main drag in Akakura Onsen town. I love squid ink pasta. When i heard this place served squid ink udon I knew I had to try it. Did not disappoint. The broth was jet black, thick and garlicky and the udon was nice and firm. The servings aren't the biggest so you need to have a side of tempura or something. Definitely use the bib provided as that stuff goes everywhere.
Found this amazing ramen place and in Nagano. Place was set up like a Yatai with crates for seating and TVs everywhere. Delicious food and the iPad ordering made things easy.
The buffet breakfast at Appi was your typical European style salad, eggs, bread and pastries and Japanese Asagohan with miso soup, rice, tamagoyaki and grilled fish. The steaming pot of beef curry really hit the spot and provided enought heat to face the temps outside. There was also furikake made from local beef that was great sprinkled on rice.
Woke up to some freshies at Appi and got covered in aspirin snow. 💊❄️
